He credits a personal trainer named Paula, who refused to give up on him, and his faith in Jesus, for his recovery. He says that while hospitalized and unable to walk, he was given a second shot without being told the dangers. He now works a few hours weekly, sometimes needs a walker, requires help getting dressed, and says the vaccine is not safe and there should be compensation.

1:07 And prior to what we're about to talk about, you were working halftime at what's called a RICA clubhouse. Speaker 2

1:18 And that's how you're working around 18 to 24 hours a week. 1:21 And that's a place where people with mental illness can go and work, right? Speaker 2
1:26 Yeah. 1:26 It's also the hangout kind of place. Speaker 1
1:28 Yeah. 1:29 And you, you're, 1:31 Your work was janitorial work. Speaker 2
1:34 That's correct. Speaker 1
1:35 Right. 1:36 But you had some diabetes, but you were in good health. Speaker 1
1:42 I was working around two weeks, and then all of a sudden I was falling for no reason. 1:48 Well, we'll get into that in a sec. 1:50 So you get vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine, and then now what you're talking about is about two weeks later, right? Speaker 2
2:00 Yeah, I was working, and next thing I know, I was falling, and I was supposed to work that day, and I had to get put on a chair, and they called for my mom to pick me up, and I had two people hold on to me to get to the car. 2:17 So you're at work at that time, right? 2:21 I didn't work because I was falling on the floor. 2:23 Right, but I mean, but you're at the clubhouse. 2:27 And so... Speaker 2
2:30 are you just are you walking are you standing when is it that you when you first fall i was just walking and i just my feet would just give out like it was just i would be falling to the floor with no understanding why okay and then so you're taken to the hospital they put Speaker 1
2:53 Do you go with your mom or do you go in an ambulance? Speaker 2
2:56 Well, actually, the first thing we did was we took me to my apartment. 3:03 I was on the recliner couch. 3:06 But I spent the night. 3:10 The next day I was paralyzed and I couldn't get off the couch. 3:15 And I had to call my mom to come. 3:18 And then we called the ambulance and they had to. 3:21 put me on a stretcher to the hospital. 3:25 Right. Speaker 1
3:26 So, so you, you fall asleep in the, it's a reclining chair, right? 3:30 Like a boy type thing. Speaker 2
3:31 Yeah. 3:31 It's the only thing I could get onto at the time. Speaker 1
3:36 Right. 3:36 So you fall asleep and you sleep the night, but in the morning you, you basically paralyzed you. 3:44 You can't move your legs, right? 3:45 Yeah. Speaker 2
3:45 I couldn't move my right leg more than three inches in my last six inches. 3:50 And, uh, 3:52 I ended up in an emergency at Columbus Valley Regional Hospital. Speaker 1
3:56 I'm just going to slow you down again. 3:59 How are you reacting to that inside? 4:03 Are you scared? 4:05 I didn't know what to think. Speaker 2
4:07 It was like all of a sudden. 4:12 No one ever told me anything about the dangers of the vaccine and 4:22 Uh, I didn't understand why it was, what was going on at all. 4:27 And, uh, it was, um, uh, actually no one knew at the time and went to the emergency and the, the emergency doctor had the phone Victoria to the neurologist and, uh, 4:50 They diagnosed me with Guillain-Barré syndrome, and I was in the hospital for a while, and then they were trying to get a bed at Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, first bed I had, and I remember 5:17 the ambulance ride, it was no shocks on the... Oh, really? 5:22 Yeah, so I felt every bump on the light of the door. Speaker 3

5:34 I... 5:37 They were... 5:38 They had, like, a safety pin, and they had, like, a oscilloscope, and they were doing... 5:45 I'm not sure what they were doing, but they were trying to get, see, with movement, they were telling me to move my legs. 5:57 I couldn't move them anymore. Speaker 1
5:59 And I just back up. 6:00 So you're taken from Comox to Victoria. Speaker 2
6:04 Yeah, that's about a three-hour drive. 6:06 Right. Speaker 1
6:06 And you actually ended up, you were in about three different hospitals, but you spent about six and a half months. 6:14 The hospital. 6:15 in the hospital. 6:17 And what type of an experience was that, all of a sudden having to basically live in a hospital? Speaker 2
6:26 Well, in that time period, I had to relearn how to stand up. 6:33 I had to use the wheelchair. 6:38 And then from the wheelchair, when I went to Nanaimo in physiotherapy, 6:45 I had to learn how to use the locker and, uh, um, it was, um, uh, it, it, it enhanced my prayer life. 7:01 I could tell you that, like, cause, uh, you know, I just, uh, um, I went in that time period, I went from 190 pounds to 130 pounds. 7:10 I had to, I, uh, 7:16 I was weak, and I had to gain weight, and I had friends, family, and preachers come down there, and basically everybody thought I was going to be dead, and it's, you know, it just was the grace of God that I'm not, you know, and it just, you know, 7:46 Yeah, I had a personal trainer that giving up was not an answer. 7:57 And the people in the hospital gave up on me, but she wouldn't. 8:06 She pushed, yeah. 8:09 What do you mean the people in the hospital gave up on you? 8:14 Yeah, they're in St. Colossal Regional Hospital. 8:19 They said that I didn't belong to go there, but Paula wouldn't take that as an answer. 8:26 She said, he's going. 8:29 And she kept it going, even when it was tough times to go into, like, you know, 8:46 When it was a tough road to get back on your feet, she wouldn't take no as an answer. 8:54 And she kept to go. 8:57 She sort of was like a sergeant major. 9:04 Right. 9:04 Can you tell us about how tough it was? Speaker 2
9:09 It was... 9:14 It was like they had, they were rebuilding the hospital at the time and they had a bunch of things in the hallway and there were people in wheelchairs whizzing by and I felt unstable on my feet on the walker. 9:28 And it was, I was afraid of falling. Speaker 1
9:34 Like it was, it was, it wasn't an easy road. 9:40 When, when people, 9:42 were thinking that you were going to die. 9:43 Were you afraid? Speaker 2
9:45 No. 9:46 No, I had faith in Jesus. 9:49 I, you know, I just, I've been through a lot in different times, like near-death experiences. 10:00 He's always there. Speaker 4

10:08 So you had to, you had to, 10:11 first learned to be able to stand. 10:14 And what was the name of this lady that wouldn't give up on you again? Speaker 2
10:18 Paula. 10:19 Paula. 10:20 I'm not sure of the last name. Speaker 1
10:21 Yeah. 10:22 But Paula, you were going to stand. 10:26 She wasn't going to take no for an answer, right? 10:29 No. 10:31 And then you were going to get in that wheelchair. Speaker 1
10:37 And then you were going to learn to use the walker. 10:42 And that took six and a half months. Speaker 2
10:46 And it, uh, it went, uh, yeah, I just, uh, I lost a ton of weight. 10:55 Then I gained it back gradually in that time period. Speaker 1
11:02 Now you've done really well since then. Speaker 1
11:06 So, cause you, um, 11:10 You're walking a bit on your own. 11:12 Like you have days where you have to use a walker, but you have days where you're okay without a walker. Speaker 1
11:19 So sometimes you fall and you need to go back to the hospital, but you're doing better, right? Speaker 2
11:25 Yeah. 11:26 I think I've been between four and six months without going back to the hospital. Speaker 1
11:34 And you are back at work a little bit now, right? Speaker 2
11:37 Yeah. 11:38 Yeah. 11:40 I was starting to kind of wobble my legs, so I took a little time off, but I'm hoping to get back soon. Speaker 1
11:49 Yeah. 11:50 And you can't work as much, but you're working a couple hours a week, isn't it? Speaker 1
11:55 And you need a bar on the wall now for showering. Speaker 1
12:00 And you couldn't crawl in or out of a bathtub, but 12:05 The real issue for you is getting dressed, like doing things like putting socks on, right? Speaker 2
12:10 Yeah, I have a carriage that come in the morning and at night give me pills because sometimes I shake. 12:19 And, yeah, so I just, but other than that, sometimes, like there was times I think, 12:31 Well, the last two years I've been working at the Salvation Army at the kettles when the kettle season is on. Speaker 1
12:41 Right, in the Christmas season when it's kettle time, you do the kettles. Speaker 2
12:45 I sit on the walker and ring the bells. Speaker 1
12:50 Right. 12:50 Now, you're not able to put socks on, right? 12:54 That's the big challenge? Speaker 2
12:55 Yeah, it is. 12:56 Well... 13:01 I could if I put my foot in the chair and hopefully not fall once. 13:06 Right. 13:07 With the balance, but I don't usually push it too far, but I did do it when I first came and I wanted breakfast. Speaker 1
13:17 Right. 13:18 And that's why you have a curate come in. 13:20 It's largely to get you dressed. Speaker 1
13:23 Okay. 13:24 But now when you were in the hospital, so you, you, Speaker 2
13:30 can't walk you're you're hospitalized without telling you they gave you a second shot right yeah well they didn't tell me what the dangers were you know they just said you know they didn't really tell me any of the dangers with the vaccine until i a friend of mine told me all the um deaths and everything that happened with they said don't get another one so Speaker 1
14:00 Yeah, so you didn't want one, but they gave it to you without telling you. Speaker 2
14:05 Yeah, I didn't know what the dangers were when I had the second one. Speaker 1
14:11 Robert, what's been the most difficult part of this whole experience? Speaker 2
14:19 See, the second year, I made it to Christmas, and Speaker 3
14:29 My dad passed away a month later. Speaker 2
14:38 And just after that, I got the COVID-19 virus and I lost 28 pounds in 10 days. Speaker 3
14:59 And the vaccine didn't help anything about that. 15:08 And my dad was there all through that. 15:19 He drove a 15:28 It's a Victorian enamel. 15:31 We had lung cancer. Speaker 4
15:36 Never once complained. Speaker 3
15:47 My parents were there. Speaker 4

16:29 To let people know that the vaccine is not safe. Speaker 2
